Choosing the right PA system can make or break your event. Whether you're organizing a wedding reception for 100 guests or a concert for 2,000, the sound setup needs to match your venue and audience.
Consider Your Venue Size
The first thing to think about is the size of your venue. Indoor venues need less power than outdoor ones because walls help contain and reflect sound. For outdoor events, you'll need significantly more wattage to achieve the same perceived volume.
Match Power to Audience
A general rule of thumb: you need about 5–10 watts per person for speech/background music, and 10–25 watts per person for live music or DJ sets. So a 200-person wedding needs around 1,000–2,000 watts, while a 1,000-person concert might need 10,000+ watts.
Don't Forget the Mixer
Your mixer is the brain of the operation. Make sure it has enough channels for all your inputs — microphones, instruments, music playback. A 16-channel mixer is a good starting point for most events.
